Do you know any of your local Police Officers? A group that I'm involved in is hosting a conference in a few days and we've got someone from Conway PD registered.

No, thank goodness. Not a one. Used to know the dispatcher but barely, and he's long retired. You guys get to retire at 40 or so!!

Sounds like most of those jokers clogging up the ramp then must be ex cops.

You're incorrigible.

Don't know anyone that has a pension like that any longer. Used to be you could put in your 20 years and retire and draw your pension right away. Now, depending on what agency you are with, you have to put in 25 years and can't draw anything out until you hit 55.
My Dad retired under the old pension plan and got to do 20 and out, and ended up drawing a pension longer than he worked for the agency. His was also set up so that at 20 years, he got 50% of the base pay of a Patrolman, so if the current officers got a raise, so did he. By the time he died, he was making more on his pension than he ever did while working for the department.
Now, most of them are base on 50% of the average of your highest 3 years pay. Wish I could do 20 and out, because, I'd be done at the end of September. Bad thing is, I could still leave then, but won't be able to draw anything for 11 years.

I was joking. I don't begrudge any of you anything you get.

I'm also encouragable. Just ask my wife.
