    What's cooking???

What's everybody cooking for the Fourth???

For the adults, I'm smoking a butt, ribs, and a turkey.....tater salad, fresh sweet corn on the cob, baked beans, and devil food cake with divinity icing.

For the kids, I'm smoking up some various pizzas....never tried smoking them before, but it sounds good, and I'm pretty sure kids will eat any kind of pizza, cooked any kind of way.

Hamburgers, smoked sausage and hotlinks as well as several sides which the women haven't agreed on yet.

Sorry Jim, any guy who would let a woman cook meat over an open flame in his presence might as well turn in his man card.

We're headed to my in-laws in Baltimore so I'm cooking this bad boy up ahead of time. Man, I love the smell of applewood smoke and pork fat in the morning.

I am going to debone a couple chickens whole and stuff them with venison dirty rice and throw them on the rotisserie. Never tried it before but sounds good also going to make some Jamaican Jerk chicken wings. For desert I am going to make some of my world famous Brandy & white Chocolate bread pudding and incorporate it into some homemade white chocolate gelato.

I'm trying to get a buddy to come off his marinade recipe for wings on the smoker. Also considering porkbutt, beerbutt chicken and ribs

Well, this will be the 5th year that my cousin and I have had the Hart/McGill eat'um up and sky painting. We decided to do this "reunion" for the family so we don't have to only see each other at funerals. This years we are cooking a half a hog and everybody else brings their favorite side dishes. previous years have been a burger and hot dog burn, a BBQ, a fish fry and an old fashion picnic/ice cream social type deal. I supply the sky painting (fireworks). It has kinda morphed from a family deal to a family and friends type deal. Good time to be had for all that show up.

Male, female, it don't matter. there's folks who like to eat and there's folks who like to challenge themselves to create good stuff to eat. And then there's folks who don't like to do that. Gender ain't got nuthin' to do with it. I learned to cook from my mom and she's still the best cook I have ever met.

I agree. Tell Thump and Cappy that. I can tell you, they LOVE to eat, though!!!! They clearly never read "The Little Red Hen".............

I would have no reason to read little red Hen, never even heard of it. If you want to be a little red cooking Hen that's fine... I'm a rooster.

Don't discount a skirt on a hot day for keeping cool.

I'd need a wheel barrow and a hose reel.

Two pork shoulders marinating for the smoker, currently.
2 dozen wings marinating for the smoker.
3 racks of ribs chilling out with a lovely dry rub on them wrapped in plastic wrap, ready for the smoker
2 dozen big ass shrimp, not sure what their fate will be yet but it will involve seasoning and grilling and/or smoking
If we all threw our problems in a pile, and you saw everyone else's problems-- you'd take yours back.

I used this recipe a while back for Jamaican Jerked Chicken and used it on boneless thighs. It's a wild-assed combination of ingredients, but it turned out pretty good. I'll likely try it on wings some time though.

It's a store bought Stubbs Chicken marinade.
    http://www.stubbsbbq.com/products/ma...cken-marinade/
I start with that and add some ginger, soy and lemongrass. Then sprinkle in some montreal chicken seasoning but just a little bit. It's got a really good balanced heat to it. The kind that slowly builds up over a couple wings
