Yes, if it's easy to get rid of, if folks don't like it.

Stupid feature IMHO. I think we know each other well enough to just POST what/if we like or dislike. Heck, we could end up with a bunch of initial posts with no comments ... just goofy stars. What are we trying to do? Look like Facebook?

Your opinion would hold a little more water if you could understand facebook as well as my 87 year old Mom.

    I only see two votes,

Niner said vote yes or no
You voted yes, and I voted no. Kribbs wrote a dissertation and others commented. But I only see two folks that followed directions...

Pumphead thought we were voting on something that had to do with stars. His vote probably should count double.

Ok Ok, sheesh ... it was easier to type than "thumbs up icon" I guess. Heck, I don't know what the "like" icon will look like here. Who cares?

Knowing the people here, I think a "Dislike" button would be more appropriate.

I would never impose my vote on such a small majority. If it's not pretty unanimous, then my vote is no, just to keep max peace.

Ok, here's my serious opinion. I touched on it above, but we've been joking around with each other. Maybe it would be a good idea for us to put into words WHY we voted the way we did.

    Here's my take:

We are a very small group and really don't seem to be growing much. That's fine with me. New blood would be great, but I can live with the crew we already have just as well. The problem with our small numbers is, that also means a relatively small number of posts on a daily basis. I'm afraid (and this is ONLY my opinion) the "like button" would possibly invoke a bit of laziness with some members. Instead of taking the time to contribute a meaningful reply and actually adding to the conversation, they'd take the easy way out and simply hit the "like" or "dislike" button. I want to know WHY they like/dislike a particular post and THEN discuss it. That's what generates conversation and participation. The worst case scenario is a whole page of single, initial posts with 20 "likes" or "dislikes" showing up beneath them.

That may not be the case, I don't know. It's JMHO.

P.S. Please let me know whether or not you like this post.

    Dislike

You're making more of this than it is. I was going to customize the deal so it would show up as something like "Thumper Fapped to the post" or " Thumper sharted on this post", mainly as a way to encourage lurkers to participate more easily.

The vote is close. Since its that close, I won't mess with it regardless the outcome. Its no big deal.

I agree it's no big deal, but I'm wondering if everyone here even realizes the survey is up there? I know it was initially announced, but the occasional visitor (like Johnboy, Dubber, Gus, etc) may not even notice it. Maybe we should move it into the main forum and just bump it up from time to time. "Close" shouldn't matter, a majority is still a majority even if it's only one vote.
