Local pro fisherman. Hard to describe. You need three hands to do it quickly.

Run line through hook eye twice. Take tag end and wrap around line above hook eye 6 times. Run tag end back through the loop. Pull tight against the line, THEN pull whole knot (it's basically a complicated slip knot at this point) down to hook eye. Bite off tag end.
WARNING - Due to the rising costs of ammunition, warning shots will no longer be given.

Does it make a big old knot booger? Sure sounds like a lot of line cinched down there.

Learning a new knot is a very hard thing for me for some reason. Its like languages, which I have zero aptitude for learning. When I get broke off or I'm changing lures, 99% of the time I tie a double improved clinch just out of habit. I think part of the problem now is since my close up vision requires me to wear my Walmart cheaters, I just tie my old knot because I can do it and leave my glasses in my pocket.

Speaking of, I started the battery of tests for this MDVIP program deal we signed up for and one of them was an eye test. At 20 feet, I am 20/15 in both eyes. At 8 feet I'm 20/20. they didn't test me at reading distances but everyone looks like Boog Powell to me close up. But that's exactly what my eye doc said I should expect. Dang, that Lasik is magic stuff. I think its been 5 or 6 years now since I had it done.

It sorta does till you learn how to do it. Then it's the Cat's Pajamas.

I run a fluoro leader most of the time. I sometimes use a blood knot but a double-uni is my "go-to".
If you turn a dog loose to hunt – you’d better to be ready to deal with what he trees.

I use a flouro shock leader (SUFIX Seige) on my stuff too and use a double uni as a splice. I keep biting it off until the leader is about a foot long because i hate tying those knots so much.

Barry, is it buried in this thread somewhere? The only other mention I can find is to an improved blood knot.

I almost can remember it. Now I'll be up all night trying to remember it. that's the deal. I tie terminal knots all the time. a new leader goes on about two times a year tops.

    Shirley Temple?

    Tom Collins?

    Jack Daniels?

    I think you dreamed it.

Resolution? I'll go with the weight loss. It's getting to be a chore hauling a fat guy up a tree!

Gentlemen, for tying on leader, please try the improved albright knot. Can't remember where I learned it, but have found it to be invaluable in tying 50 lb mono to 20 lb braided line for jig fishing Rockfish.

ETA: Same knot as BBP posted in the other thread - should have caught up in all threads before posting!

I believe that would be the Alberto I mentioned in the other thread. My dentist swears by it.

If we all threw our problems in a pile, and you saw everyone else's problems-- you'd take yours back.

Well no wonder we couldn't find it! I didn't know we had a fishing forum!
