Ford is recalling 465,000 vehicles in the United States due to a potential fire hazard.
The recall affects the Ford brand's Fusion, Explorer, Taurus, Flex, Police Interceptor, Police Utility, Lincoln MKS, MKT, and MKZ. All the vehicles affected are from the 2013 model year.
According to the automaker, customers have reported smelling gas or seeing a leak on the ground.

Detroit, MI: Ford Motor Company has issued a safety recall of nearly 140,000 Ford Escape vehicles from model year 2013 due to the potential for engine fire. Affected vehicles were built between October 5, 2011 and June 2, 2013.
The current recall involves two subsets of the 2013 MY-Escape with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine. The first is based on a July 2012 recall due to a fuel line split in the 2013-MY Escape with the 1.6-liter engine. Some technicians may have installed the fuel line improperly, causing the line to chafe over a period of time and leak fuel, says Kelli Felker, Safety Communications Manager at Ford. 9,469 Escapes are being re-recalled.
The larger recall involves 139,917 model year 2013 MY-Escape with the 1.6-liter engine. This has a potential for localized overheating of the engine cylinder head. The head could crack, which would leak oil, which could cause a fire. Twelve fires have been reported.

Also of note is that these numbers are for car/van/SUV vehicles. Not ONE WORD mentioning TRUCK recalls.

If you EVER see a VW Bug with a magnesium engine block catch on fire and the fire department hit it with a water hose you will have no doubt what car burns the hottest.
It's one of those moments you can remember forever, like Kennedy being shot, the space shuttle blowing up and the planes hitting the twin towers.....
If I was on a real computer I'd search YouTube and embed a video.
Saw it twice in 30 years of policing and never want to see it again. If the asphalt is a foot thick under it it will burn a foot deep hole in the ground. It gets so hot that the road under it catches on fire and burns...

I didn't know VW engine blocks were made of magnesium. Whoa. That is some honest hot burning stuff right there.
One of my girls had a VW Jetta once and it was the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen. Just a POS.

Dang! I take ONE day off from this place and it falls apart. Until your post Buckster ... the common theme was cars burning to the ground. I was just pickin' on Bubba.
The "big" Toyota recall was about spiders building webs that plug up an air hole in airbag sensors. I'm sure if we searched, we could find recalls on everything from tooth brushes to jet airplanes.
