    Here's a pretty straightforward explanation

If we all threw our problems in a pile, and you saw everyone else's problems-- you'd take yours back.

    That's straightforward?

In three sentences, summarize what it is.......... Is this some Paypal competitor? Or something different?

Is it really a paypal competitor? I thought it was mined data through algorithms to create an internet currency not backed by USD or any other form. Originally used to keep anonymity on internet purchases, and now being more widely accepted by the likes of Overstock.com. Lots are looking at it as an investment opportunity, It all seems pretty risky from an investment standpoint.

I have avoided the whole bitcoin story (much like I avoided the imaginary currency itself) but I ~finally~ took a minute to read up on the Mt. Gox bankruptcy after getting back from the lab this morning. I almost died laughing. Thought I was missing something. Read a bit more. Started laughing again.

You mean to tell me that $473 Million dollars worth of these things just disappeared? Left the house? What the fuck?

One commentator put this up and I pass it along without comment:

Like Oscars, Rap Artists, Band names, Democratic Congressmen, Tree names other than the 5 I know, and Foreign Languages, I am going to totally ignore all this, because my limited brain cannot grasp any of it...........thus I discard it.

    Poof.
