    Word of the Day

so Keith and I were fishing along a bank last weekend and he used a word I'd never heard before. You learn something new every day around that guy, I swear. Anyway I was wondering if anybody else had heard the term. the word is 'catkins'. Before you google it, are you familiar with it? Is it a regional term? A scientific term? What? HellifIknow. But it does sound exactly like the thing it describes.

Cat tails? Since I'm a noticer and you said you were bank fishin' and what not.
If we all threw our problems in a pile, and you saw everyone else's problems-- you'd take yours back.

Must be a catfish, then. That's all I got. Unless short shit was revealing his wife's pet name for him which seems highly unlikely.

That's probably the most logical response yet. But nope.

Yep! About all the nut trees get them, as do ash and willows and some other stuff too. The pecan catkins stain my sidewalks for a few weeks every year.

    Word up.

We have a heck of a problem with the oaks every year. 'Course when I was pressure washing, I made a literal fortune cleaning stained driveways, walkways and pool decks. For a quick fix P-hole, just pour some swimming pool chlorine/water mix in a pump-up sprayer and spray that concrete. Do it on a nice sunny day and it'll really bleach out as it dries. (note: it may "burn" the grass a bit along the edges, but it'll green back up)

Not a word in this post about whether either of you caught a fish.

And I am the one ridiculed around here. Harumph.
