Is that because you got the chain saw to crank?
Well, prune 'em anyway!
We have tons of them around here. Nobody trims them back except one neighbor did this year. I'll be interested to see what grows back. Maybe he knows Cap'n, who knows.
If we all threw our problems in a pile, and you saw everyone else's problems-- you'd take yours back.
My crepes are like multi trunked trees and are about 25 feet tall. We prune them but mainly just prune the suckers off of them.

We're surronded by them ... they get pruned every year ... as they're supposed to. Cappy's right. They normally get pruned in late Fall or early Spring. BUT ... if you prune them right after they bloom, they can be encouraged to bloom a second time before Fall.
Pruning is old school and generally discouraged these days.

Yeah but only one of them is getting more crotchety.

And when I say crotchety....
If we all threw our problems in a pile, and you saw everyone else's problems-- you'd take yours back.
This was a left handed attempt at humor.
Cappy saw a pic of my truck (I think) and behind it were 'dead' looking trees. He said "You need to trim back those Crepe Myrtles". Well, heck, I have NO clue what that is, so I said "Oh, ok" or something. Those trees just blossomed.
They're dogwoods.

Ya' need to prune yer dogwoods!
Now THAT is probably true. I might get a round tuit some day.
