I hate to sound negative and burst your bubble, but that's about the goofiest, flimsiest looking thing I've ever seen. First of all, any hotel room I've ever been in, has the normal door lock (usually card operated nowadays), plus a dead-bolt, PLUS that little thingy that slides across (similar to the old chain locks where you can crack the door open without completely unlocking it). If someone were to defeat all of those options, that dinky fork isn't going to stop anyone. I think your tin hat would work better.

I could see using this gizmo in some sort of public restroom or something where the door would not lock (?) ... but most of those wouldn't have this type door anyway ... even if so, it appears any type of forceful push would defeat it. It would be more of a message to others that the stall is occupied more than any type safety feature.

Sorry, I'd give it an "epic fail".

BUT ... if you're really concerned, there are a zillion commercially made locks that work on the same principle. I see different ones offered in "travel" stores all over the world ... some in luggage shops even, but many are available on-line. Just go to YouTube and search for "portable door locks" or something similar if you want to see some options.

Here are a few samples: (the first one is a fancy-schmancy lock with built-in travel clock and flashlight)

There are a zillion of 'em out there ... just look around a bit.

Naaaa.....Now here's my idea of the ultimate hotel "protection".
It even has "Vice Presidential Approval"...

My "disability" does not make me "disabled".

It is a handy and crafty idea.
Not sure it would stop anyone that REALLY wanted to gain entry though

I can take a pencil and stop anyone from opening a door.

Course, you can't get out, either!!!
