Puzzling
and Bucky's not here to offer his personal testament to never having to change the oil on his Chevy after 7 million miles, all uphill with no tires.
If we all threw our problems in a pile, and you saw everyone else's problems-- you'd take yours back.
Odd ... the ONLY trucks I saw were Toyotas!
Here's my count: (out of 18)
Toyota - 10
Audi - 3
VW - 1
Kia - 1
Honda - 1
Mitsubishi - 1
Chevrolet - 1
You'd think by now the U.S. automakers would have caught up. I wonder how many of the most reliable are built by union members? (I have no clue, just curious)
I know the ONLY unionized plant here for Toyota was out in California. They built the Toyota Corolla out there and let the UAW in, on a joint venture with General Motors, to basically show "us" how to build a good car. It wasn't working out all that well, but there was a contract. When GM went through their bankruptcy, Toyota closed the plant ... the ONLY plant they've ever closed in the history of the company ... and moved production back to Japan. The UAW raised holy hell of course, but I think that's a sad example of the mindset of the American auto industry. I told a group of GM mucky-mucks at a National Parts & Service Managers meeting back in the early 80's that Japan was going to knock our dicks in the dirt if we didn't make a drastic change in our business practices and I was laughed out of the meeting. I remember it like it was just yesterday and it has always been an unpleasant memory for me. I sure wish I could go back to that group of GM Brass and Engineers to thumb my nose and say, "I told you so."

My Tundra was built in the US. I didn't ask if it was built by union or non-union because I don't give a shit if it was built by friggin' communists.
BKB
To my knowledge, Toyota has no union plants in the U.S.
I believe all their trucks are built in Texas (not positive).

That's what the dealer told me. Built in San Antonio.
Built by Texans.
Oh well, you can't have it all I guess.
BKB
That would be non-union Texans!

That's kind of like being first in a fat man's race.

My Tundra was built in Indiana. Union Township no less. That was before they switched he truck lines to Tejas.

No interest.
Looking for list of "Most Functional Towing Vehicles"........
WARNING - Due to the rising costs of ammunition, warning shots will no longer be given.
Is it still functional if it breaks down?
Here are a few for ya' ta' try out:
Peterbuilt, Mack, Freightliner, Kenworth, Volvo, International, Western Star, etc.

Too expensive.
Mine doesn't break down. Sorry to burst your bubble. So, I get both.

I've got a Corolla and I wouldn't give you 50 cents for a dozen more just like it. It's the poorest designed thing on four wheels I've ever had the misfortune to own. Every aspect about it sucks, handles poorly, rides rough, mileage barely adequate, uncomfortable and you have to take off the whole frickin grill to change a headlight bulb. If that's the best Toyota can do then they can keep them

Ha ha! The Corolla is their entry level car. It's SUPPOSED to be that way.
Hey, you could'a had a Vega or a Pinto ... or a Gremlin! No wait, am I in the correct century?

I'd druther have the Yugo. Being an entry level is not an excuse for poor quality and design. Toyota ought to be ashamed to put their name on it

But ... has it broken down?

Before and after the recall repair. it's running right now but you can't replace the headlights without a masters mechanic degree in physics

Ha ha! Just eggin' him on ... that's my job around this joint.
I've never owned a Corolla (Camry and up only) so I can't say squat anydamnway. Besides, it's not even on the list for the subject of this thread, so ppppffffttttt!

See????
Oh.........and so I assume you are saying reliability and quality are only at the top end of this car line? I see.
I don't have a Cadillac. Or a Buick. Just a couple of old Chevy trucks. Even the Tahoe is still running great at 200K+.
But of course, none of that means anything, and can't possibly be true.
P.S.
Got 20.2 mpg on way to camp, by the way.... in a 3/4 ton truck with a 25,000 lb pulling capacity

Jimbo's my alter ego. He's handsome, I'm not. He's a chick magnet, I'm not. He likes Toyotos, I don't. He's not sure if he's agnostic, I'm sure I'm not. we're a lot alike except where we differ

Isn't Buckrub the one that likes to talk about sticking his head in the sand more than anyone else on this site? He doesn't like facts to get in the way of his opinion. You know like the fact is in this article:
