    A LONG run...

Went out to Mattamuskeet last night for the last day of swan season. I did not have a tag but Hammer and a couple of other friends did. Had a great hunt today and everyone scored. Now for a 7 hour run back home tonight.

Cool bird. They tell me they eat good.
If you turn a dog loose to hunt – you’d better to be ready to deal with what he trees.

Cap, come on down, and you can shoot some of these white geese, too....I just THOUGHT we had a lot of geese last year....there are literally hundreds of thousands of these day'um "sky carp", all over the Delta.

Bucky, you must not know what a billion is or you are looking at snow geese one? We have WAY more Tundra Swans here than y'all have and there not even a billion of them in the world....
"Population: There are two populations of tundra swans recognized in North America: eastern and western. The western population has increased an average of 6 percent per year since 1990, and in January 2000 was estimated at 89,620 birds. Similarly, the eastern population has increased an average of 5 percent per year since 1990, and in January 2000 was estimated at 103,080 birds."
No doubt y'all probably get a few down there the majority of them winter from SC to New Jersey on the east coast. But you ain't seen nothing as far as numbers go till you go to the outer banks of NC. That literally "mow" wheat fields out there.
"Migrating and Wintering: Tundra swans winter mainly along the Pacific and Atlantic coasts of North America, from southern British Columbia to California and from New Jersey to South Carolina. In the United States, primary wintering areas include the Atlantic coast from northern South Carolina to southern New Jersey, the Great Salt Lake vicinity and central and northern California."

Eddie do y'all have to get a permit to hunt them in your state?
And on a side note them things are a BOOGER to get killed. They are wearing a bulletproof vest and trying to get shot into them is the devil!
We mostly try to head shoot them but that in itself is tough.

I've never ever seen one in the wild here. They might come down our flyway, but in all my time out they've got by me. We get all kind of cranes and stuff and white big ass pelicans but no swans that I know of. And those damn snows Eddie was talkng about, we gots a bate of those.

How much one of those weigh Larke?

And what's with the one with the bright orange feet?

Have not weighed one but I would guess about 15 pounds or so. But I swear their wingspans are about 6'. They are huge!
And their feet are black. The orange you are seeing is the permit that you have to attach before you move them.

He said "white geese". That's snow geese.

You come prove to me firsthand we ain't got billions. Can't even sleep for 'em sometimes. Every field for miles. Sky full constantly. So noisy you can scream, they don't care. 3 feet from the edge of the road, they don't care.

    You know...........maybe I'm wrong. I think maybe it's Trillions.

And you wonder why people take issue with things you say....
Looks it up Dufe the population of "snow" geese is about 5 Million. Not even a speck of a billion and WAY short of your statement of 6 plus billion. And why you think you got it worse than other places is beyond me. Those things winter on the east coast from the Carolinas to New Jersey, on the west coast and the coast of Mexico as well as ALL states down the Mississippi.
There no way you are having any MORE of a problem with them than the rest of the states are having where they winter.
And for you to say there are "billions upon billions, upon billions of them in your area is just a stupid statement.

    Of course it was.

It was totally tongue in cheek. I know how many snow geese there are. Sorry that you misinterpreted it.

It's called Hyperbole, to make a point.

Southern exaggeration is an art form. My Mom's "go-to" exaggeration number was 84 million. Pronounced correctly would sound like 84 mid-eh-lee-un.

Yes it is. It is my main form of sarcastic and hyperbolic humor.

I guess it doesn't translate well here.

You just need to brush up on your "Southern" ...

"Millions and Billions" are serious numbers. Sarcasm and hyperbole would translate to bazillions or gazillions. Dont'chu know nuttin'?
