    Pretty Bird.....Pretty Birrrrrrdddd

    What kindof raptor this is????
I snapped this lil guy's pic several years ago as he was eating his lunch.
I THINK it's a Red-Tailed Hawk, which is pretty common around here.
Just not very often you get one to pose for you for anything more than a few seconds.
This guy just sat there and ate and ate like I wasn't anywhere around.
    Pretty cool!

What's he gnawing on? A little field mouse or sumpin'? Cool pics!

Definitely *not* a red tail. My guess is either Cooper or Sharpshin.. I have fits telling them apart. Nice pics

Looks like those pics. Man, I dunno. Without looking it up, I'd have said "bird".

Looks almost identical to the Coopers who nest somewhere around my neighborhood. They're nesting now I believe and have made life difficult for the squirrels and songbirds around here too lately. They're like the A10's of the raptor world IMO. Cool birds.

Then people blame it on kitty-cats.

I wish like hell one of those hawks would do a number on the pussy cats in my neighborhood. Anybody who'd let their goddamned cats roam the neighborhood is no betterthan those guys who release hogs in the woods. Same difference. I sure as hell can't let my dogs loose like that.

That's cause dogs run off and get lost and bite people and chase cars and poop in peoples yards without the decency to bury it and they bark at the mailman by day and bay at the moon by night keeping the neighborhood awake and ... and .... and ....

I'd say not a red-tail with the bands visible on the bottom side of the tail. My guess is Cooper as well. I had one last year that was sitting in a bush right next to the driveway cleaning out a robin's nest. Then I had a red-tail sitting in the yard eating on a squirrel. Got some pics of that, and I'll post them if I can find them.
