    ? For Bucky

    Bucky,

What ammo do you shoot in your .257? I ask because I have been thinking of going with the Barnes TSX or TTSX.

    Trav,

I got on the Wby Nation website, and asked this very question, before I bought any. I have a 'friend of a friend' that uses 87g somethings, because they are 4,000 fps, and he thinks that's optimal. He never recovers his deer, and has given up using that gun on deer because he's too (something?) to change to a better bullet.

The answer I got was 110g Accubonds..........and that's what I use. Federals are cheaper than Wby brand. I use these:

I bought about 8 boxes from various sources for way less than this........but they've gone way up. Wby sells their brand of the same bullet, and I found 2 boxes of those someplace while shopping, can't remember.

I've shot 3 deer so far, and every one has been DRT.

That said, my buddy shoots one and shoots the 100g Norma Spitzer and does just fine with them.

I shoot Barnes in both muzzleloaders, but I stay with lead above 3,000 fps. That's just me.
WARNING - Due to the rising costs of ammunition, warning shots will no longer be given.

I got 5 boxes of each .257 100gr Spitzer and .300 180gr Spitzers Weatherby factory ammo when I bought both guns. I been reading and the 100gr Spitzer don't get great reviews under 200 yards. Seems like they grenade and do way to much tissue damage.
