Not a bad little app. for youse old farts ...

... it doesn't help me much because the VA gives me my scripts, but someone here may find it useful.

Lynn and I use our Gas Buddy app. constantly, especially when we're traveling ... and it has saved us a small fortune over the past couple years. This one is similar but covers prescriptions ... tells ya' the lowest price in town for your scripts, including coupons if available. Not a bad little app .... and it's free.

Most people who are on insurance plans don't get to choose which pharmacies to use for theor prescriptions Thump. The insurance company tells you which one to use and how you are to use it. Its another part of our health care system that some folks think is the best in the world. Ya know the one that people say is the best because its driven by competition, regardless of the fact that people buying insurance in this system don't get to shop prices, don't get to choose who their provider is, and don't get to choose who they buy their meds from. Ya know, the free market one!

    So bitter. So negative.

You must be a sick old man..........

Your socialist health insurance doesn't dictate what pharmacy. Maybe we should all vote for Bernie and let magic money pay for our stuff.

Yeah, Lynn has company insurance and she pretty much has a choice of pharmacies (as long as the pharmacy accepts her plan). We both get our blood pressure meds free as we have two major grocery chains (both within a couple blocks of our house) that give free B/P meds, antibiotics and a list of others at no charge. I watched a news show that offered suggestions on how to save $$$ on scripts and that's where I got this app. One thing I learned is that some pharmacies are negotiable on the Rx prices. I didn't know that. They also said that at times, you can find prices with the app. that are actually lower than what you'd pay through your insurance plan, even with their discount. I have no clue, I guess the whole lesson is to SHOP prices.

DW has no choice for her maintenance prescriptions on her plan... I can get my meds anywhere.
I looked up gas buddy and I was a little shocked to see some of the permission requirements. Why do they have a need to control my Bluetooth? What are they needing to do in my photo/media/files folders? I can get they want maybe to use some of my ringtones or alerts for their system but agreeing to it opens it all my info that is not encrypted...
This might not bother some, but it does me...

I have NO clue what you're talking about. Anyway, we use the heck out of it ... don't know nuttin' at all about any of that other stuff and have never had a problem of any kind. If we're on the road and need to start looking for gas, we jump on Gas Buddy and it tells us the gas prices at every exit or podunk town in the area ... OR whatever area we ask about. Have you been hanging out with Sunny lately?

Nandy if you had an iPhone you could deny the permissions you don't want them to have. Just sayin'

    You guys............

It does NOT take an iPhone to deny permissions! I know, y'all know no other way, and have no knowledge of the 'dark side', but it's not that different........

what I meant is that the application can see all your files in your phone and do whatever it wants with it. Is this developer trying to do something obscure with that information? probably not, im sure if it does the community would have found by know. They have also control over you bluetooth. It can turn it off/on and pair if it need to be, which is the most troublesome of them all since i cant figure out why do they need access to your bluetooth to tell you how cheap is gas anywhere. Is this developer using your bluetooth on ways you would not want? Dont know, and I doubt it, but it can....

Not being paranoid, but in this era of cracking and hacking you never know....

You can deny permissions on android too. Actually, it seems Google is going that route and you wont need a separate app for denying permission and it will be part of the os in future releases. Some developers allow for that too.
I am from the standpoint that if there is anything looking skewed I wont instal the app. Just like someone you just met and start telling you stuff that dont seems right, you would be suspicious of that person character....

"Campfire Forum" needs a name change. If this group stood around a campfire, they'd pee it out in a matter of minutes.....and then they'd fight in the ashes.
