    Trip report

This Saturday was ND's pheasant opener and boy was it a HOT one! I mean really hot in that the temperature reached 90+ which is WAY too hot for hunting but we made the most of it. Our group of roughly 20 people, ranging in age from 11 to 80+, were able to shoot 40+ roosters in what was just a bit more then a half-day hunt so that was good. Here is a shot of my boys waiting to head out on opening morning.

After the hunt though was the part the younger members of the crew have come to really enjoy and that was the clay pigeon shoot we do. We stand on the edge of a big cutbank along the creek and hand-throw pigeons for the kids to shoot. Let's just say a good time is had by all, kids and adults alike. This is my daughter in action and after hunting down here for 29 years now, there aren't too many years where shorts are comfortable to wear.

The group was smaller on Sunday and my family bugged out early in an attempt to get the camper home before the predicted 60 mph winds hit but not before my daughter was able to take her first rooster while capping at the end of a field. I have told her repeatedly that the .410 she is shooting really cuts her odds of killing critters to which she always reminds me of the two turkeys she has taken with a .410. Anyway while waiting for the walkers to shot up a big, old rooster jumped at our corner of the field and when it did she cocked the trusty single-shot, brought the gun to her shoulder, and proceeded to drop it like a rock! Not sure who was more happy, her or me.

All-in-all a mighty fine weekend for our family.

Thanks all and as for the taxidermy bill, I'm undecided.

Regarding the pics being oriented like that, is there a way to rotate them? I realize it can be done with various photo editors but here is the deal, they were taken with my iPhone in the vertical format but when I click to view the pic on my computer they are oriented properly, only on here do they show up sideways. Not sure how to deal with this issue but am all ears if you folks are in-the-know as I am obviously not. Sorry about that.

John, if you look at the photos on your 'camera roll' album, you select them one at a time and then there is a 'duplicate and edit' option that you use. then you can rotate the copy to orient it how you want in the edit frame.

At least that's how mine works.

Well, at least I can get the crick out of my neck from leaning the other way for so long.

How did you rotate them Thumper?

I tried doing what Posthole suggested with an original picture on my iPhone and the above is what I got even though it shows up in a vertical format before I do anything. It seems Posthole's idea works if I save it kitty-wampus first and then correct it but it doesn't change anything when only using the original pic.

    Stupid technology.

I get the whole rotate thing, I really do but there pictures are all oriented properly on my computer screen or if I open them with my phone. It isn't until I post them here that they are rotated.

In short if they appeared out of whack to me, I would correct them but they aren't.

    Weird.
