    out my back door..

Back when I still had an "arm" - I could almost throw a rock and hit the river. Been fishing that river most of my life. Not my personal best channel cat - but my best from this river. 35 1/2" . Charts say somewhat over 20#. Caught on a shad head.

If you turn a dog loose to hunt – you’d better to be ready to deal with what he trees.

That is a seriously nice channel cat and way bigger than I've ever caught, or even hope to catch!

It's good to know we have another cat person here.

    "Cat person" Not too.

Fun time.. She was a handful. Buddy and I had the wives fishing. Though they can catch her own fish, I normally set the hook on my rod then hand it to one of the women to land. "Unfortunately" ? my wife had to go to choir practice and I was a hundred yards from the rest. Problem was - I was fishing about a 6 foot cut bank. Had to hang by my butt and use a pair of fish grippers to land it. I don't much dress anything over 5# so I let it swim..

Nice! One of my favourite memories of childhood was fishing for channel cats in the Trent River in southern Ontario. Always used a fresh chunk of some pan fish (rock bass, blue gill, whatever) for bait and had good success but nothing that big. Used to trade the occasional fish to the Chinese guy that ran the local hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Free pop!

I keep going back to that pic and trying to determine who's the fugliest. I think it's gonna be a toss-up.
