    Daniel Inouye RIP

We've lost another American hero. Medal of Honor winner, fought in the most decorated unit in the US Army in WWII, the Fighting 442nd, and represented his state since its statehood as an elected official. He was a good friend to Bob Dole, who he met during the war. One of the old guard who we will miss.

Did I hear it right that he lost his arm not far from where Bob Dole's arm was permanently mained? If so, that's kind of wild. I also had not idea that he was 3rd line for the Presidency. I never knew that was based on seniority.

He and Dole also were in the same military hospital together in Battle Creek, Michigan along with future Senator Phillip Hart. Kind of hard to imagine that three future senators were all in the same hospital at the same time recovering from wounds.
