    Favorite Photo of Cappy

I was looking through some old photos on my computer today and ran across one of my all time favorites. It is my favorite photograph of the good Captain. Man we looked a lot younger then!

That was one of the best and quickest hunts I've ever had.... ;-)
What a great trip. And old JB was right there with us.
I need to come back out there and put some more tracks in the mud....
    Thanks for a great time!

well Cap is retired, in decent shape for a man of august years and has more money than the queen of England so if he doesn't go back then it's his own fault. I'm really sorry that catching all those stripers is getting in the way of his mule deer hunt, the man has a rough life

That was our 1 hour hunt, picked Sky up at school and went out to see where we were going to hunt for the next couple of days, Sky still had his school cloths on.
Were driving down this dirt road just scouting when they spotted this beauty standing on an dirt dam about 200 yd's away. Drove behind the next hill, Sky and Captain got out and started the stalk, I followed with a camera.
At the top of the hill Captain flips down his bi-pods and sits down to take a shot, sat right on a cactus that made him stand up very quickly , got readjusted, took a nice shot and a little while later, just at dark he finishes him off in a deep wash out. Hunt over.
This all happened just before Thanksgiving, we had plans to have Thanksgiving with Sky and his family, but a big old snow storm was headed our way and at the last minute we decided to skip Sky's invitation and head home.
We had met at Hotshots house and by the time we got there it was snowing and blowing pretty bad, took me twice as long to get home and Captain headed South in some pretty nasty stuff.
Great trip, I have to admit, I took some very nice pictures that hunt.

JB, you certainly did take some great pics. Nice recap of the hunt as well. I doubt I will ever see a quicker hunt for a buck of that size. It was like it was just meant to be.

    When in Rome.......
I had that big old boy mounted and it stayed in my office till the day I retired. Now it hangs in my den....
That was a trip of a lifetime and I owe Big Sky AND JB for such a great hunt.

There was also a little bird hunting done on that trip prior to Cappy taking his buck. I have a pretty cool picture of jb drawing down on a flock of sharptails somewhere but be darned if I can locate it right now. Twas fun getting to meet Mutt and Jeff in person! Would sure like to do it again.

Man it was great to meet you and your family too! What great country you live in. That was something else watching them dead birds fly away from you and JB!
I hope to get out there again one day.

John, that is one of my favorite pictures, I had it blown up and is hanging on my office wall.
That was 11 years ago, all your kids were still kids, had a great time staying at your place, thank you.

That's the one! I see 3 sharptails flying in the picture but as I recall not all of them flew away.

That was a good time even if your selfish guide shot the first bird.

John, love hunting birds in the woods, all the trees and bushes make it hard to hit those darn things.
That picture was taken before my involvement in trap shooting, I should have had an easy double, but then you don't have to hit everything you shoot at to have fun.
