Senate Vote to Override Obama Veto

Going down today. The fuckers in Congress pushed it through both houses without ever recording who voted for or against. Now they're having to actually cast a vote and they're doing the waffle dance.
Interesting issue (I of course agree with Obama on it) and if its passed we're gonna need to know who pushed it and why. Big consequences if this passes.

Is that the bill, allowing the families of the 9-11 victims to legally sue Saudi Arabia and other terrorist pricks???

If so, what are the consequences of which you speak???

    That's the bill.

First off, its international law that sovereign nations can't be sued. So I'm not sure how effective it will be in the first place. We already have a law that allows citizens to sue countries that sponsor terrorism.

But here's what I think the consequences might be. There are deep pockets that will finance legal actions against countries for the sake of political positions. I don't see where there is justice in that. And thats what laws are primarily for.

That and our own hands are very dirty. Think of all of the iraqi ctizens killed by civlian contractors employed and paid by the US government. The reiprocal works as well. The law of sovereignty is all that saved Blackwater's broad illegal ass in Iraq.

Lastly, this is about suing Saudi Arabia. And its all about 9/11. If we want justice for 9/11 we need to look at the CIA and our own president at the time first, who both knew and were warned of the terrorists learning to fly planes a year ahead of 9/11.

Need to look at the president that had the opportunity to kill Osama and passed. That's the real turning point. He left him for the next president to try to deal with.

I know. George Bush Sr and Ronnie Raygun both had extensive financial ties to the Bin Laden family and with Saudi Arabia. Look up Carlisle Group. Bush Sr was meeting with the Bin Laden family on 9/10, the day before the buildings came down.

Maybe there should have been a House investigation!

Sorta like another democrat president was warned three days before Pearl Harbor and did nothing. Like Clinton did nothing when he had a chance to take out Osama.

Looks like you suckin' hind teet on this issues Posty...
"Democrats in large numbers joined with Republicans to deliver a remarkable rebuke to the president. The 97-to-1 vote in the Senate and the 348-to-77 vote in the House displayed the enduring power of the Sept. 11 families in Washington and the diminishing influence here of the Saudi government."

Y'all seem to be best describing your own presidential nominee!

Have fun with that! And it only stands to reason you would stand up for this worthless fucking congress.

Awww, man, give 'em a break....it's only taken them 7-1/2 years to find their balls.

I wonder how long it'll take for "your" nominee to find her emails???

Find their nuts hell. They only voted for it because its an election year and they didn't want to vote against anything that had the words '9/11 victims' in its title.

I guess we'll have to wait to see the consequences. I'm not saying it'll be the end of the world, but I'd imagine they'll be reexamining their nuts to repeal this in the future.

Or at least until the Supreme court finds it illegal.

Ha, your current Supreme court doesn't find ANYTHING illegal....and, I wish Bush's appointee, John Roberts, could find other employment....immediately followed by Ginsburg.

I just think its kind of oily of Congress ro use his bill as a political football. But its not like they haven't done this shit before. Like the bills to provide health care for first repsonders languished in the Senate for years. Several first responders have died from health complications from 9/11. And the Senate leader, McConnell personally stripped the bill because he wanted a tit for tat bill having to do with oil exports.
I guess thats as important as taking care of first responders. The Republican Senate seemed to think so. Its pretty easy to find a list of those who voted against it.

Of course, that wasn't during an election year and they counted on us to forget about it.
    obviously we have.

We do agree on one thing, however, Congress sucks....just not nearly as bad as Odingo....why we have allowed them to spend their lifetimes up there is just beyond me....8 year term limits, maximum, then they have to go to work for a living, again.

    Purty much.

Let's talk about something we can agree on.

Like the great whiskey debate. Which is better? Brown or clear?

We used to get some shine from Red Oak, Ok that was aged for a short time in charred barrels. So it was a beautiful golden brown, and from time to time you'd get a little tiny piece of charcoal in the jug. We called it Runny Honey. That stands as the best tax free whiskey I've ever had.

It's hard to beat Birddog Blackberry store bought likker.
But I still lean toward home brew.
Funny you should mention the charred oak barrel. I JUST a week ago fill a 3 gallon charred oak barrel with some fresh off the run white likker.
However I like it to stay in the barrel for about a year.

It adds some good flavor to the liquor, that's for sure. I think they added something else too because it had just a slight touch of a sweet taste. Of course, I've always tasted sweet in whiskey that other folks claimed wasn't there. My nickname for Jack on the rocks back when I drank Jack Daniels was 'Juicy Fruit', because at some point in the evening it started tasting like the gum.
Nowadays, if I drink store bought whiskey its usually Knob Creek. Or Weed. That's about the only two I care for these days.

Posty's right on this one. What you gonna do when they refuse to pay, send in troops to collect. Too bad they couldn't find their balls when Obama care was proposer.

Here's the rub that gets to me. Even before this law was passed, countries that were deemed state terrorist sponsors were already not given sovereign immunity. This isn't about 9/11 victim families. This about a small faction of legislators who have wanted to punish Saudi Arabia despite findings by the 9/11 commission and by both the last republican and democrat presidential administrations that they are an ally. In the face of all facts, they deal in misinformation. This small group of Tea Partiers have been leading the GOP around by the nose now and are why you have the nutbag candidate that you have now.

That's the real push behind this and they dirty tricked it into law.

I prefer the Jim Beam Red Stag by a smidge over the Bird Dog. On the rocks with crushed ice is nice by a warm fire on a cold day hits the spot. Anybody tried the honey or maple flavored? I haven't felt like springing for a bottle to find out I didn't like it.

Even though I rarely drink any hard stuff, my friends occasionally gift me with some Crown Royal....so, when I do imbibe, that's my go-to drink....a fifth will usually last me about 3 or 4 years.
