    Mark Trail

What a great comic strip! I used to look forward to this in the paper every week when I was a kid.

In that vein, who can identify this track? I took it from a FB group from Arkansas so that’s where the varmint would live.

Cats have four toes but you'd think it be be more of a pad print showing. Maybe a four toed Bandersnatch. Don't tell until HH gets a peek.

I won’t tell because I don’t know. I have a guess but I’ll keep it to myself for now.

So, did we ever decide what made those tracks?

Doesn’t seem to be any interest in that sort of thing, DD.

I think its a beaver track.

I thought beavers left snail trails.

Without something for scale it's hard to be certain but I'm pretty sure it's not beaver, they've got five front and back toes and different shaped foot. Canine family has longer claw length like that but it could be a cat with his blades out and they have four toes. Skunks have real long claws. If I had to guess, I'd say a running bobcat with his claws out. Those hooked claws just look catlike to me

Cats have retractable claws so I don’t think that’s right. My money is on the elusive chupacabra.

What about a badger? They are the only thing I can think of that has claws like that short of a grizzly.

That’s a good guess and a possibility I suppose. They’re very uncommon in Arkansas, but just because the Facebook group is in Arkansas, doesn’t mean the pic was taken there. One big problem though, badgers have 5 toes (front and rear). It’s possible one toe didn’t leave a print, but this photo appears to be a complete footprint to me. I dunno.
