Up at 4:30 and out the door and Birddog and I were on the coal pit at the buttcrack of dawn. this is a pit we've attempted to fish in winter a couple times and couldn't find open water, fish from the bank a couple times and caught freaking hybrid sand bass/striper that went six pounds (that should be impossible), and finally got a boat on a couple summers ago and had a good day, but not great.
Today we killed 'em. we both boated prolly 30 each, and probably 20 of those were over two pounds. i caught these two three pounders (both exactly 3.1 on a digital scale) on two consecutive casts.
also caught some monster bluegills.
brought a mess of fish home along withtwo really sore thumbs!
