Our governor just signed a constitutional carry law which means anyone (except felons and so forth) can legally open or concealed carry with no permit, no training, no nuttin’.
It was passed but vetoed by our last governor after she heard from most of the county DA’s and several law enforcement folks in the state.
There is a lot of criime data out there now that really doesn’t show much of a difference in crime rates either way in states where its been the law for several years. So maybe the fears are over lown. I dunno. I’m no expert.
Carrying a firearm is a personal choice, IMO. So is swallowing a pain killer or smoking meth. Neither should be illegal. What should be more strictly enforced though, IMO, are the illegal actions that might result from those choices. The right to carry law, at least here, doesn’t make it legal to shoot anybody thatyou couldn’t shoot before.
More personal accountability, less nanny bullshit, That’s my own opinion, and it might be worth a nickel.
I feel much the sameabout DUI laws. I think they are mostly bullshit with very little real evidence that they reduce the number of impaireddrivers on the road. Especiallywhen its so strongly skewed towards alcohol. Its also bullshit when people don’t get sent to prisonwhen they kill or hurt or endanger people when they are driving drunk.
