    Question

Tomorrow is going to be my last day at work, and my boss is going to let me keep my new phone and number. Here's the rub, my son is going to add me to his plan but he's AT&T and I am currently Verizion.

Is this going to take an act of congress to change this over or will I even be able to? If so, what will be involved?

This is new territory for me and any help will be greatly appreciated

It depends on who actually owns the number, is the phone account in your name or your company? If it’s in your name all you need to do is go to the AT&T store or do it online. If it’s in your company’s name you may need a letter from them giving authorization to release the number to you since they are the customer of record.

So that’s it? I get the company to release the number with a letter of authorization, go to the AT&T store, and say gimme gimme? Of course, my boss will have to contact Verizon and take my phone off, but I felt sure it’d be much more complicated than that. After all, we’re talking geek central here

Will your Verizon phone even be compatible with AT&T?

In the old days, they’d give you a gold pocket watch when you retire. Now they let you keep your company cell phone!

I went by the Att store this afternoon and they told me I’d have to have a letter from my employer releasing the phone number and the account number associated with the phone. Take it all to the ATT store and they take care of it
