That is one fine-looking platter of dads, skrimps, and sausage.....but, no, I’ve never heard of Clesi’s.....looks like a first-class eatery!!!

I thought I'd been to about every eatery in NOLA, but haven't been to that one.

It was a 10. Now, take that 10 with a grain of salt because I don't often get the opportunity. But I will say

Ambiance was awesome. Hole in the wall, between houses in a residential area. Great outside seating, and they cooked under tents.

People were incredible. Nice, felt like a family atmosphere. Side note plus....I saw a 10 year old eating bugs at the bar!

Food. For me incredible probably not up to Muddys standards but good.

I think I've posted this before, but I'll do it again. If you don't mind heading out into the "hood", ya' gots ta' hit Willie Mae's (Scotch House) if'n ya' wants the bestest fired chicken, rice & beans and cornbread in town! It's DEFINITELY in the hood, but worth the trip. There WILL be a line, but that's a good thing IMHO. The odd parts is, everyone in that line will be white! The locals pick theirs up in a to-go bag 'cause they don't NEED to stand in line! It has quite the history if'n ya' wants ta' Google it, but you will need to Uber. It's nowhere near the tourist crap.

The last time Lynn and I were there, I snapped these pics. Note: The obviously serious foodie crowd is extremely friendly and good conversation makes the wait seem much shorter.

Here's what the joint looks like before business hours.

And here's a NORMAL day DURING business hours!

Here's the sign that will greet you once you arrive. (short and to the point!)

And here's Lynn holding my spot in line as I take pics.

Oh, and here's Willie Mae. She passed away about 15 years ago, but her great-granddaughter took over the place and didn't change a thing.

Cool! We were last there in 2014, so I hope the great-granddaughter has lived up to Willie Mae’s reputation. If nothing else, it’s a cool history. It was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina and the community came together and rebuilt the place.

Only been there for lunch during the summer. I'd imagine the dinner crowd might be sparse on a Monday in early March.

It did not disappoint. The chicken was fantastic, but my favorite was the butter beans. They had the perfect amount of kick to them. Service was fast and the atmosphere was great, right down to the greasy floors.

If the floors ain't greasy, the place ain't worth visiting!

Ha! Well, you're in good company. This guy may not know much, but I'm sure he knows his fried chicken! (Note: He got a spot of fried chicken grease on his suit while there)

Ummm, where are all the white folk?

If you don't mind frigging tourists, you HAVE to go to Cafe Du Monde (French Market) for a beignet. (or two!)

    (again, expect a line)

Won't make it this trip, headed to Denver now. Agreed on the floor. The other positive is those beans made for a pretty strong byproduct later.
