Who knows what the holes in this yardstick are used for?

The older I get, the better I was. I also forget my password and have to have Len reset it for me
To measure P-hole’s pecker size.
Since the yardstick is offered by an auto supply company, I’d assume that the holes have something to do with a vehicle.
And, the words “Pin Bushing” are stamped into it, so I’d assume the holes have something to do with a motor rmechanism.
Other than that, I’m stumped.

When do I get to play? Used to have one in the shop. Hint: It's kinda-sorta-in-a-way related to the racing thread running now .... but not really. Muddy's getting warm.
(Double hint: There were generally 16 holes - think about it)

Heck, I haven’t seen the answer yet!
Yeah, it’s odd I’ve never seen one at the sales. They used to be given away free at most any parts stores or speed shops for the advertising. They actually served three purposes.
1-Advertising.
2-Yardstick
And 3 .... well, we’re still waiting for an answer.
And even if the part is figured out, ya’ gots ta’ know what the holes are for.
Its a stick they used to measure valve positions on an old straight 8 head when they rebuilt them.

Not sure what you mean by “measure”. (??)
The valves would establish certain wear patterns, so they needed to be returned to the same seats once removed from the head. You’d stick the valves in the holes in the same order they were removed. Then re-install in the same order.
Thank You!......I was really trying to figure that one out and Google was no help...
Give us another one!.....I'm like Columbo...I love trying to figure s*** out!

I’m having a late supper right now, but will try to Google later. I’m not positive what they were called, but I believe they were referred to as a “mechanic’s ruler”, or possibly “mechanic’s yardstick”. (?)
Found one. I’m on my dang phone right now, so hope this works.

Good one P-hole! I figured someone would get it right away. Thanks for making me feel old.
