If you turn a dog loose to hunt – you’d better to be ready to deal with what he trees.
solid pickup at the estate sale .
Speaking of we haven't heard many picker stories from you lately.
I’m now retired thanks to Mr. Biden. You now have to file a tax return with the IRS if you make $600 or more (per YEAR!) with internet sales. That’s about what I’d do in two weeks! In order to make it all worthwhile, I’d have to treat it like a real business. Normally, they don’t issue receipts at estate sales, especially itemized ones. I also hit a few yard sales. Who gives receipts there? I’d have to not only have receipts for inventory, but keep track of my time, fuel, depreciation … basically any travel or “business” expenses. “F” all that. It used to be fun, but I guess it’s a thing of the past. I’m retired and really don’t want to screw with all that b/s. For the past few months, I’ve skipped the sales and am trying to liquidate my (rather massive) inventory before the end of the year.
The previous threshold was $20,000 and 200 sales. Now it’s $600 and it doesn’t matter the number of sales. Heck, you could sell ONE item for $600 and you’d be 1099’d.
CURRENT law: Under current rules, individuals who sell goods or services via platforms like Uber, Ebay, Etsy and others that use third-party transaction networks (i.e., PayPal) generally only receive a tax form if they engage in at least 200 transactions worth an aggregate $20,000 or more. That form, called a 1099-K, also goes to the IRS.

You could apply for some of that gvmt cheese except there's record of you being a useful productive tax paying member of society at one time so you wouldn't qualify, only the non working non tax paying non productive socialist members of society get that
