I was at a Kiwanis Club charity sale this weekend and they were selling donated stuff. I ran across this wooden "clip" and had no clue what it was, but was intrigued enough to pick it up. I asked everyone standing around me and nobody had a clue. I asked all the officials from the Kiwanis and nobody knew. Of course, eventually we had a small crowd looking and we all started making silly guesses ... it was fun, we had a few laughs, but nothing productive came of it. (I guessed antique nose-hair puller) Heck, it was marked $0.10 so I couldn't see NOT buying it.
Here are a few pics. I meant to lay a ruler beside it, but forgot ... it's 11" long and made of some dark hardwood, like walnut maybe(?). It has a brass hinge held on with small brass (slotted head) screws and I assume a spring-steel "leaf-type spring". The only thing that came to MY mind was some sort of hair curler, but all the ones I'm familiar with are metal so they can be heated. I'm totally clueless and can't even research it because I have no idea what to search for ... wood clip thingy?
Any VALID ideas would be appreciated (I prolly heard all the smart-ass guesses on Saturday) Just wondering if I got screwed out'a my dime!
