    There ought'a be a law ....

    ... no wait!

    Our Sheriff's dep't. made a "sweep" of "repeat Offenders" this weekend and headed out with warrants in hand. I think they cleaned the county up a little bit. Most of them were busted for drug manufacturing/sale/distribution or possession, as well as burglary, possession of stolen property including stolen cars/equipment and parole violations. Here are the resulting numbers: (the last one gripes my butt)

    101 Arrests for 325 Total Charges
    Out of the 101 ... they had a total of 955 Prior Arrests
    2 had been Previously in Prison
    40 were on Public Assistance

    I was talking to one of the cops after our little breakin a few years ago and he was saying that they can predict the crime rate in our area by who is in or out of jail. So and so gets arrested and goes to jail and the crime stats go down. They get out and it goes up again, just like clockwork. I'd love to see a 'three strikes and you're in for life' law up here.
