Grandson and his buddy just got in from duck hunting, a while ago.....when I say they hunted in a mudhole, I mean it literally, and right now, it's nearly dried up....it's an isolated little one acre mudhole on my place, surrounded by thick ironwood bushes, that none of us ever pays any attention to, let alone try to duck hunt in there.
The boys were just walking around and exploring at noon near it, and when they stepped over the berm, they saw about a hundred mallards, just walking around, underneath the bushes on dry ground....I told them it was prolly a roosting area, and only use it for morning hunts....can't much blame them for not listening to me, since this was their last chance to hunt this weekend....needless to say, they had a great afternoon hunt, and I was sorta proud they scouted and found the place on their own.
